Can a Station Marché function to prevent loneliness and isolation?
The study developed a simple screening tool for evaluating social isolation and loneliness to examine the effect of social inclusion on the prevention of isolation and loneliness. An interview‐format questionnaire survey was conducted in the Station Marché and examined the effectiveness of the Station Marché as a social prescription. In previous studies, the marché was expected to play a social role as a place for community interaction. The results of the current study suggest that the marché could be positioned more strongly as a place for social prescriptions that contribute to the prevention of isolation and loneliness among all generations, which exceeds community interaction. In conclusion, we suggest that the station‐front marché can function as a spatial prescription to help prevent loneliness.
