Injecting Highly Treated Sewage Into a Deep‐Sand Aquifer
The growth in population in Nassau County, L.I., over the past twenty years has greatly increased the demand for water at the same time that urbanization has reduced the recharge capacity of the local aquifer. In an effort to solve the problem, a series of artificial‐recharge experiments are being carried out to examine the feasibility of injecting reclaimed water into a network of wells. The effect on the resultant water quality is the main factor of interest in this article.
