A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
In his column, AWWA Executive Director Jack Hoffbuhr discusses the results of a survey conducted during July 2003 by the Opinion Research Corporation. The survey asked 500 fire chiefs, marshals, and commissioners what their most significant challenges were in trying to improve fire protection. 69% said that difficulty accessing adequate water supplies was one of their chief problems and 46% said that lack of cooperation from local water companies was among their primary problems. Hoffbuhr states that these two survey findings are the result of a lack of communication between fire departments and water utilities.
