A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
This chapter examines some of the limiting factors outlined in Part A of the Building Regulations with respect to heights, thicknesses and the slenderness of walls. Design examples are provided which demonstrate some of the limiting factors contained in this section of the Building Regulations. We also examine the buttressing and end restraints of walls along with the importance of lateral stability of walls to improve the slenderness ratio.
