A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
The Danwei System: Living with Production
Respectively a professor and research fellow at the Politecnico di Torino, Michele Bonino and Maria Paola Repellino explore the rejuvenation, social aspirations, architectural techniques and outcomes of China's danwei system of industrial units. This is resulting in a revitalisation of these districts, bringing cultural, employment and amenity diversity as well as blurring older boundaries between richer areas and less privileged ones.
