Conclusion and Outlook
Much has been accomplished in the standardization of IP‐based emergency services and in the supporting ecosystem by involving a global stakeholder community. The standardization process in the different groups, which is driven by the underlying communication system, business models, as well as regulatory requirements, leads to different results that are not always “perfectly aligned.” A few trends can be observed: there are many developments in the area of the communication infrastructure — from IMS deployments to over‐the‐top application services (in form of Web services or smart‐phone applications) — and an increasing penetration of the Internet Protocol into every corner of communication systems and emergency services networks. In this chapter, the authors share their views on what types of activities need to happen in the near future. emergency services; standardisation
