Smart Homes and Smart Cities
We are living in an era of technological revolution. Humans are trying to invade technology at various phases of life. As a result of this, new technological inventions are made at a rapid phase. People also like to have a sophisticated life which also enthused for various inventions. “Smart homes and smart cities” are also a part of human intelligence. Artificial intelligence and Internet of things are deployed by human intelligence for a smart living. In this chapter, the first section will be discussing briefly about the evolution of smart homes, basic architecture, and the various technologies involved in designing a smart home. Further, few specific applications of smart homes are discussed along with the advantages and disadvantages. The second section briefly discuss about the smart cities. It includes smart city framework, architecture of smart cities, and components of smart cities. Added to this, characteristics and challenges of smart cities are discussed.
