Simulated Elevator Performance and Passenger Service Level
Elevator group handling capacity can be increased with control systems and different elevator group arrangements. From the simulated traffic events, passenger service level and elevator performance figures are analysed in up‐peak, lunchtime traffic and down‐peak. Elevator performance can be seen from the number of starts per round trip, cycle time and interval or round trip time values. Destination control system (DCS) improves the elevator group performance, especially with heavy traffic peaks from some floors. The weakly boosting or non‐boosting DCS controls can give a service level close to the conventional control. Conventional double‐deck system can roughly double the up‐peak, and the down‐peak traffic handling compared to a conventional single‐car control system. Double‐deck DCS can even triple the up‐peak handling capacity compared to a single car elevator group with conventional control. The service level of different traffic mixes depends on the control system.
