A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
SAME: Its Role in Support of Readiness and Homeland Security
This article discusses the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), an association of engineers and related professionals who work with and within US military installations, including water systems and other public works within those installations. SAME's goal is to unite member entities and individuals in the public and private sectors to prepare for, and overcome, natural and human‐caused disasters and acts of terrorism and to improve security at home and abroad. SAME is a founding member of The Infrastructure Security Partnership (TISP). This partnership enables SAME to interact with water, wastewater, and other infrastructure professionals who are members of SAME and its Readiness and Homeland Security Committee. SAME is involved in the process of establishing relationships with agencies that might be involved in disaster response before an incident occurs and improving the training of Post Readiness and Homeland Security committee members.
