Characterization of the Micro Organism Mobility in In‐Situ Bioremediation: Visualization using micro‐focus X‐ray CT Scanner
In this paper, a new method is proposed for the characterization of microorganism mobility in in‐situ bioremediation. The efficiency of the bioremediation is assessed in laboratory tests with micro‐focus X‐ray CT image analysis. The main outcomes of this research are as follows: (1) the proposed method can characterize microorganism mobility in soil specimens, (2) a new image‐analysis method is proposed for identifying a front of density change due to the presence of microorganisms, and (3) the microorganism mobility process can be monitored by X‐ray CT images. A micro focus X‐ray CT scanner is a useful tool for characterizing the microorganism mobility in soil, offering helpful information on designing in‐situ bioremediation for the contaminated ground.
