A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Sustainable Nation is part of a larger world‐view that believes each nation and culture has a unique starting point and challenges on its path to achieving its preferred future ahead of schedule. Consequently, each people or nation has to embrace unique, locally attuned strategies and solutions. The challenges and opportunities each nation faces may be similar; however, the solutions have to be customized in each case to fit local culture and context. Sustainable Nation Index and the 2050 Sustainable Nation Index are two timelines of present and future national milestones in the Sustainable Nation campaign. They list objective measures, such as formal policy and quantitative performance, to demonstrate the steady incremental progress necessary to attain the world. This chapter illustrates the Sustainable Nation Index that are day‐in‐the‐life vignettes from India, China, Nigeria, and the United States of local actors using the patterns in this book to lead each of their communities toward its preferred future.
