Atomized Rainfall Effect on Stability of Coupling Hydraulic‐Mechanical Unsaturated Rock Slope
In the process of infiltration into unsaturated rock slopes, the deformation behavior of unsaturated rock is strongly coupled with flow behavior. This paper draws attention to this coupling effect by using a two‐dimensional hydraulic‐mechanical coupled finite element analyses on the case of atomized rain induced instability in the slope of the nuozhadu hydropower station in China, with the objective of evaluating the slope stability under rainfall infiltration. The analysis shows that the degree of influence of rainfall on the stability of the slope depends on their duration. The rainfall boundary condition, the relationship between permeability coefficient and suction is considered in the calculation process. Some useful rules and conclusions about deformation, stress and pore‐pressure of the slope are obtained through the simulation, which affords a basis for the stability analysis.
