A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
There are a countless number of different elements within a building or on the exterior, each with their own parameters, all of which are connected by an accessible route. The requirements are not only for the item itself but also the manner in which it interrelates with other elements. Whether furnishing or cabinetry, drinking fountains or sinks, machines or fixtures, and counters or kitchens, all are overlaid with their own requirements relating to reach ranges, clear floor spaces, and other parameters. If it is a faucet at a sink, or controls on a washer/dryer, there are requirements for access. Tables and seating for drinking and eating also have separate requirements. Counters, whether for dining, sales, or service, have requirements which differ depending upon use. This chapter reviews a number of these elements in terms of their technical and scoping requirements along with kitchens and their multitude of requirements.
