Fire Resistance
This chapter gives additional guidance on fire resistance design of composite structural members in buildings, including composite slabs, composite beams and composite columns. After a general introduction to requirements for fire resistance, this chapter provides detailed explanations of the background to different simple calculation methods for these composite structural members and how to select appropriate methods. Examples are provided to demonstrate detailed step‐by‐step calculations. The methods in this chapter represent the latest fire resistance design methods for these types of composite structural members related to EN 1994‐1‐2. This chapter replaces the treatment of fire in the third edition of this book, which was included in the chapters on particular types of composite member.
