Reducing the Cost of Water
Water utilities—especially those serving populations of fewer than 10 000 people—can achieve both energy and monetary savings through electrical demand reduction and leak detection programs. A study of 80 rural Alabama utilities that used these techniques showed that more than 2.6 × 105 kW · h and $550 000 were saved per year.
