Selecting the “right” stormwater control measure (SCM) for a particular application will depend on many different factors and criteria. A summary of the hydrologic performance of the various SCMs is presented. A water quality performance summary of the various SCMs is also provided. Since multiple objectives frequently must be met with stormwater management infrastructure, a treatment train approach is commonly necessary. Quantifying hydrologic and water quality performance of SCMs in treatment trains is not consistent, and the most common currently employed method is erroneous in its load‐reduction calculation. Real‐time control (RTC) of SCMs appears to be an upcoming design and operation feature. During the lifetime of a SCM, it is likely that climate change will impact both the characteristics of the runoff input and the SCM performance. The field of green stormwater infrastructure is changing rapidly.
