Using Innovation to Respond to Infrastructure Needs
This article discusses the automated mapping/facilities management/geographic information system (AM/FM/GIS) that the city of Altamonte Springs, Florida, implemented to organize its large collection of record drawings (construction plans, as‐built plans, original design plans, etc.) and to gather the cumulative knowledge of many employees who had worked in the department for many years before they retired. The article discusses the benefits and advantages of the AM/FM/GIS system.
