Water For People Supports Small Systems for Impoverished People Worldwide
This column describes Water For People (WFP), a nonprofit charitable organization started in 1991 by members of the American Water Works Association. WFP's official mission is to help the most impoverished people worldwide improve their quality of life by supporting sustainable drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene projects. WFP's focus is the support of nongovernmental organizations and indigenous, grass roots groups that help communities with water projects. The country of Bolivia is highlighted in this column and examples of Bolivian projects sponsored by WFP are given.
