Microalgae‐Based Bioremediation
Polluting compounds generated by anthropogenic actions are in focus by the growing awareness about their risks on human health. Associated with this, there is a concern in ensuring for the present and future generations an ecologically balanced environment. Unfortunately, remediation conventional techniques are expensive and generate undesirable by‐products. In contrast, the bioremediation based on living organisms is seen as a comparatively economical and ecological technology. Among the organisms, microalgae have been receiving considerable attention. Microalgae cultivation associated with pollutants bioremediation may provide a sustainable system. Therefore, the objective of this chapter is to compile information about the bioremediation of organic and inorganic pollutants microalgae‐based.
