THE INFLUENCE OF HENRY'S LAW ON BICARBONATE EQUILIBRIA
In a closed system, water saturated with sodium bicarbonate maintains a constant pH. But when the water contacts CO2 in air, pH rises. It is possible to determine the ultimate pH of a water when it comes to equilibrium of the CO2 in the atmosphere.
