Applications of Heat Transfer in Buildings
The Ohm's law analogy or nodal analogy helps to first simplify the heat transfer in walls and other buildings' elements. In addition, one can consider a similar approach and apply series and parallel circuits' rules to the heat transfer resistances within buildings' elements such as walls in accordance with Kirchhoff's current law. Heat transfer from the exterior skin of building plays a pivotal role in the energy demand calculation of buildings. The wind velocity at external surfaces is the key parameter in many of the correlations to find convective heat transfer coefficients. In Thermal Analysis Research Program model, the convective heat transfer coefficient is split into two components associated with forced and natural convection. Sun can be assumed as a blackbody with the surface temperature of about 5800 K. The reason that sun radiation is occasionally called as short‐wave radiation is due to the fact that it is concentrated in the range of short wavelengths.
