Effect of Cesspool Discharge on Ground‐Water Quality on Long Island, N. Y.
Large amounts of household wastes, discharged through cesspools, have resulted in deterioration of ground‐water quality on Long Island. Although nitrate pollution poses the greatest threat to the Islands water supplies, other constituents derived from cesspool leachings are increasing. Municipal sewering projects which have been undertaken as a Solution are discussed in the following.
