A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
This chapter deals with the category of buildings that aspires to be leading the field in terms of performance: high performance buildings (HPB). It explores the generic definition and use of the term, before suggesting an alternative that is more appropriate in discerning between high, typical and low performance buildings. The chapter also discusses emerging technology, which is often applied in high performance buildings, as well as the concepts of smart and intelligent buildings.
