This chapter deals with the structural design of foundations, which includes the outlining of design parameters, strength and deflection requirements, and the construction guidelines and details. There will also be discussions on the critical sections for bending moments and shear forces, shear and punching shear failure, reinforcement requirements, as well as the development length and bond. Principles of design for the isolated, combined and continuous (wall) footings, strap footings, raft foundations, circular and annular footings are also explained in this chapter.
