Biological Control: Isolation and Bacterial Oxidation of the Taste‐and‐Odor Compound Geosmin
Research has revealed that Bacillus species readily degrade geosmin. Bacillus cereus ATCC 9139 and Bacillus subtilus strains were found to be as effective as Bacillus cereus strain 10876. This last organism had been previously reported as the best strain for geosmin degradation in both laboratory and field studies.
