Risk‐Aware Cyber‐Physical Control for Resilient Smart Cities
Smart cities integrate sensory, actuation, and intelligent system to achieve human‐centric socioeconomic goals. This chapter focuses on smart grids due to its criticality in enabling other cyber‐physical systems (CPS) and also because of its distinguishing characteristics. The chapter proposes an algorithmic approach to solve the double constrained shortest path (CSP) problem that is used to formulate smart city routing while mitigating communications' link insecurities and maintaining quality of service (QoS) constraints. The implementation of double‐constrained QoS routing that maintains a situational awareness of the dynamic communication links' risk state within the communication network is possible using the software‐defined networks framework. The problem of finding routing paths that meet specific communication latency constraints can be investigated using CSP formulations. The impact of the smart grid's traffic having different classes of QoS on the performance of the Vulnerable‐Link Adaptive‐Avoidance algorithm is investigated.
