SEISMIC RESPONSE OF STEEL MOMENT FRAMES WITH SEMI‐CONTINUOUS JOINTS
Load action due to seismic is computed based on design spectrum, where it is determined by elastic response spectrum and behaviour factor. The difference of cyclic behaviour of the dissipative zones may influence the energy absorption capacity; semi‐continuous joints that are allowed to use in steel moment frames may affect the response of the structure under seismic event. However, Ch.6 in EN 1998–1:2004 does not have any specific rules that can evaluate the semi‐continuous joints effects. Time‐history analysis under 44 ground motions was conducted, and the effect of semi‐continuous joints to the maximum storey drift ratio was evaluated. Finally, sample result that can evaluate the joint effect was shown.
