Emerging Opportunities for Public‐Private Water Partnerships
This article discusses the growing water “issues” or risks encountered by businesses that rely heavily on clean water supplies to support their operations and supply chains. Some recent examples of these growing water risks for businesses are provided. The article discusses how these water risks tend to take one or both of two forms: physical and reputational. Physical risk is explained as centering on whether the company can expect to have sufficient supplies of clean water in the future to support its business. When a company's water use is causing real or perceived impacts to other parties or ecosystems, it can lead to reputational risks, affecting a company's social license to operate.
