Recent Advances and Development in Healthcare Systems
Bacterial adhesion and biofilm formation on material surfaces are important societal challenges from financial and healthcare perspectives. Antimicrobial coatings are gaining popularity in the healthcare sector when it comes to reducing the risk of infection. The coatings may be used on various surfaces, from walls and floors to medical devices and furniture, to stop the spread of germs and other organisms. They may also be put on catheters, stethoscopes, and other medical devices to prevent the spread of infection. Medical fabrics, such as mattresses, gowns, and towels, may be treated with antimicrobial coatings to reduce the spread of bacteria and other microorganisms and hence the risk of infection to patients. These coatings may also be used on prosthetics and implants to reduce the risk of infection. This chapter's goal is to look at the use of antimicrobial coatings in hospital settings to lessen the transmission of illness. This chapter focused on recent advances and the development of antimicrobial coatings for application in the healthcare sector.
