Conclusions
Asia has the potential to be the leader in sustainable development as more new buildings and infrastructure are being built to support economic development. Developing countries such as China are more vulnerable where the intensive process of urbanisation has resulted in severe environmental problems. How to build the cities’ resilience to climate change and environmental crises is at the top of the agenda for many political leaders and policy makers in the region. Global and regional collaborations on implementing sustainable developments have been active in recent years. A new mechanism of green movement is being formed in the region. It relies on strong interactions between government policies, practice in the market and the behavioural change of people to archive the objectives of sustainable development. The right governance is pivotal to the success of implementing sustainable development. Regarding policy implementation, applying the right instruments by the government is the key to success.
