Physical modelling of structures for contemporary building design
Although not as widely used as in the pre‐computer age, physical models are still used by structural engineers, especially to study unprecedented or unfamiliar structural behaviour in qualitative ways. They are also invaluable as an aid to communicating complex issues to non‐technical members of multi‐disciplinary design teams.
