Organic Materials in Illinois Ground Waters
Almost all of the reported studies of the presence of organic matter have been made on surface waters. The principal objective of this study was to report on analyses made of groundwater in Illinois. It was found that two carbon filters in series, with the water acidified before it was applied to the second filter, produced at least twice the amount of extract as a single unacidified filter.
