The Grandeur Nature Plan, Eurométropole of Strasbourg
The “Grandeur nature” plan implemented by the city and the Eurométropole (local intermunicipal authority) of Strasbourg aims to preserve and intensify nature in the city. Through this plan, the local authorities attempt to provide solutions to the challenge of ecological transition by focusing on the issues of circular economy, the fight against the loss of biodiversity, CO2 emission reduction and the role of the living in the city. The content of this plan includes a document summing up all of the action for the nature in the city and a plan divided into four axes (a natural heritage to be transferred, a shared culture of nature, a sustainable land management, and an exemplary and attractive city). The action plan is notably noteworthy for its commitment to also include the inhabitants at the heart of the program.
