Water Resources Control Legislation in Great Britain
This article discusses an effort in Great Britain to insure, not only that river and underground waters are used in the best possible interests of the community, but also that the waters in the rivers are maintained sufficiently uncontaminated to enable the natural river regime to exist for the benefit of all, including fishermen, and the general public for whom these rivers have such high amenity value. At the same time, these measures will insure that water withdrawn to meet the proper needs of the community will be of such a condition that it can be readily treated by normal methods for domestic consumption.
