Curtain Walls and Storefronts
Curtain walls are typically used to enclose the outside of a building, but can often be found as interior partitions as well. Storefronts are similar to curtain walls in their construction, but behave more like windows or doors. Curtain tools are not limited to walls or vertical faces. They can be used to create a grid pattern on any uniform surface provided a mass is available to superimpose it on. The framework of a curtain wall is made up of the mullions that are created using a one or more profiles drawn along the lines that mark the outer boundaries and separation between panels. Building information modeling software starts with default solid and glazed panels for use with curtain systems. Curtain panels represent the infill between the gridlines within a curtain wall system. The graphics associated with panels can tend to get ornate, especially when dealing with corrugated or ribbed panels.
