Risk Management for the Mishawaka 7,000 Foot Long Term Control Plan Tunnel
Risk management is the primary objective in preparing underground construction documents. This paper will present the impacts and the mitigation strategies for the risk associated with the Mishawaka Long Term Control Plan Tunnel project. Successful risk management includes: the risks associated with design and construction; developing options to treat the goal of meeting cost and schedule targets; and assigning responsibilities to parties best suited to handle them. Multiple horizontal and vertical alignments were evaluated for the tunnel. The optimal horizontal alignment location was developed based on the fewest impacts to properties and structures.
