Experimental Research on Uniaxial Compressive Constitutive Relationship of Aramid Fiber Reinforced Concrete
Fiber reinforced concrete has been widely used in civil engineering; however, aramid fiber use is still relatively new. An experiment was conducted to study the uniaxial compressive constitutive relationship of aramid fiber reinforced concrete. The volume fraction of aramid fiber tested varied between 0%, 0.2%, 0.4%, 0.6%, 0.8%, 1.0%, and 1.2%. Based on the analysis and comparison of complete stress-strain curves, the constitutive equations are given and the associated fitted data curves consistent with the experimental results. The parameter B in these equations is related to the fiber volume fraction. The experimental results also indicate that the aramid fiber volume has some influence on the workability of AFRC but has little effect on the compressive strength. All of these experimental and theoretical results are significant to the use of fibers in concrete design.
