Calculation of Wave-Induced Longshore Current in Surf Zone by using Boussinesq Equations
This paper aims to propose a widely applicable numerical method for the computation of longshore current on the basis of Boussinesq equations. Laboratory data of longshore current of Visser are used to be compare with the numerical results. The effects of side boundary conditions to the longshore current are discussed. A so-called `numerical pump' method is proposed in handling the side boundaries for the purpose to obtain a relatively uniform longshore distribution of longshore current and to diminish the circulation of flow outside the surf zone.
