Block Nr. 12 ist der bisher einzige von insgesamt 18 identischen Gebäuderiegeln der Sozialsiedlung, der komplett entkernt und neu gestaltet wurde. Geschosshohe Durchbrüche im Erdgeschoss und eine durchgesteckte Gemeinschaftsloggia im zweiten Obergeschoss schaffen eine neue Durchwegung des Quartiers und geschützte Freibereiche als Treffpunkte der Bewohner. Den Architekten ging es nicht nur darum, die Wohnungen technisch zu ertüchtigen, sondern das gesamte Umfeld räumlich und architektonisch aufzuwerten.
So far, block no.12 is the sole building tract from 18 identical strips in the social housing development to be completely gutted and redesigned. Storey-height ground-floor openings through the block and a communal loggia that penetrates the strip create new through-routes in the neighbourhood as well as sheltered outdoor areas where residents can meet. The architects were concerned not only with upgrading the dwellings technically, but with improving the entire environment spatially and architecturally.
