Effects of slotting solid rib; results are given of scale model study of closure around three types of ribside roadways; it was found that, at applied pressures high enough to induce roof and floor breaks, roadways with ribside pack gave less vertical closure, less roof lowering, less floor lift and possibly less sideways closure than roadways with either solid ribside or slot cut in ribside; with no ribside pack it was found that better floor conditions were obtained in roadways with slot cut in ribside than in roadways with solid ribside.
