Construction of Church of Saint-Jean in Grenoble
Church holding 1000 worshippers is built to circular plan; nave placed 5 m above ground is supported by 18 reinforced concrete pillars 8.5 m long, inclined at 20° of arc to vertical and forming inverted cone of 38 m base diam; nave is covered by wooden frame in shape of inverted hyperboloid of revolution formed by double framework of 26-m long planks; special overhead traveling crane constructed from Mills tubular scaffolding material, with one end pivoting at top of central derrick and other end rolling on circular runway, is described.
