Dynamic response of cohesive earth dams to earthquakes
Discussion of recent developments in application of theories to assess stability of earth dams during earthquakes; "shear deformation" theory for case of dynamic response of cohesive dam represented as infinitely long elastic wedge is discussed; reference is also made to recently developed finite element dynamic response analysis for earth dams; recently introduced concepts of dynamic seismic coefficients, and of seismic stability of earth dam evaluated in terms of permanent deformations induced during earthquake are discussed.
