New structure built on same piers as former self anchored suspension bridge facing Cologne Cathedral, is steel girder bridge of hollow cell construction with three continuous spans; economy of design effected by use of hollow cell construction, in conjunction with continuity of three spans, has resulted in exceptionally slender structure.
