Dispersion predictions in natural streams
Data from longitudinal dispersion studies by radioactive tracer, conducted by United States Geological Survey during 1959 to 1961, are reanalyzed using more modern techniques; new method (routing procedure) is proposed, which uses computer program to determine whether suggested dispersion coefficient for given stream predicts downstream tracer passage from upstream data; if prediction is not adequate, coefficient is adjusted until coefficient giving most accurate prediction is found.
