Use of roof bolting gave promise of substantial economic benefits to Continuous Miner operations at Michel mine, BC; as first step in adoption of bolting, 142 anchorage tests, employing 6 types of anchor shells, were made in 3 mines; significant differences were found in anchorage capabilities of various shells and various roof rocks.
