Evaluation of penetrometer for estimating roof-bolt anchorage
Tests were conducted both in laboratory using cement cylinders and underground in shale; hardness readings were measured by penetrometer around periphery of bolt holes at anchorage horizon; roof bolts were then installed and subjected to anchorage test; results showed that penetrometer readings could be used to make accurate estimate of anchorage capacity.
