Water resources available to project are limited to those upstream of Orange-Vall confluence which is 2,522,000 morgen-ft/yr; project provides for irrigation of 360,000 morgen of land; principal features comprise construction of Hendrik Verwoerd main storage dam at Ruigte Valley, construction of combined storage and diversion dam at Van der Kloof; dam, tunnel and canal systems for irrigation, urban and industrial water supply systems and hydroelectric plants.
