Precast retaining wall keeps freeway on schedule
New approach to retaining wall construction was used on section of Seattle Freeway; technique consists of precasting stems of walls in flat position, and then shipping them to job site by truck from fabrication yard; sections are placed by crane on steel beams which straddle footing and in turn are supported by 12×12 ft footing forms; footing is poured in place, using nonshrink additive in Class "B" concrete.
