Forests and stream flow
Report on experiment by U S Forest Service and U S Weather Bureau, conducted from 1910 to 1926, on two contiguous tracts in Southern Colorado; results indicate that small growth that springs up immediately after deforestation exercises practically same effect as forests in reducing normal flood crests and in preventing erosion -- without detrimental effect which forest cover has on annual flow and flow during summer low-water periods. (Am Soc Civ Engrs -- Proc v 58 n 6 Aug 1932 p 1037-66 and discussions in n 7, 9 and 10, Sept p 1288-93, Nov p 1614-36 and Dec p 1811-36)
