Performance characteristics of siphon outlets
Results of model and prototype studies on behavior of large siphon structures; energy losses, minimum tail-water elevation for priming, and general-flow patterns were studied for two siphon configurations; effects on energy losses of air accumulation at siphon crown were studied for different sizes of air pockets; rate of air removal because of entraining action of hydraulic jump at lower end of air pocket was determined from tests at Grand Coulee Dam.
